.....I
t all started more than 26 years ago when two very eccentric people named Terry and Arnie fell in love in their abnormal psychology class in college. They got married and several years later decided to develop their own abnormal offspring and gave birth to Lisa Jordan Gopman. Lisa was born in the month of May in exciting Cincinnati Ohio. She really felt a little out of place until one memorable moment of fourth grade. The class was performing "The Best Little Kids on Broadway," and Lisa, already a sketchy little kid, decided that she really wanted to play the part of Baby Jane. After auditioning, her teacher Mrs Wagner informed her that she knew the perfect role for Lisa. SNOOPY! Lisa was, truth be told, a little depressed, but her teacher told her to ham it up and Lisa took the advice and never turned back. Lisa relished in her moment of glory, throwing dog food out into the audience and shaking her little tail across the stage. She decided to continue with the whole ham thing and began taking acting in Cincinnati at The Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and the Playhouse in the Park. She graduated from Sycamore High School(which she hated almost every minute of) and went on to four years of drunkeness and debauchery at the University of Southern California Theater School. This, I must say, is when Lisa came out of her shell. Lisa spent four years performing in school plays and throwing orgie-like cast parties. She also studied for a semester in Madrid and even performed a play there. Again, casting was ridiculous as Lisa was selected to play the villain of the play, a MAN who liked to hit everyone over the head with a giant club. (It was NOT easy for Lisa to hide Laverne and Shirley, her girls). By the end of Lisa’s college career she had gained quite a reputation as someone who enjoyed extreme drinking and dating a la "Sex and the City." She soon began writing her own monthly column in the national college publication 28th St Magazine. The column was entitled "sketchy girl" and followed Lisa’s blackouts and makeouts for two years. During this time, people began to suggest that Lisa take her weird stories to the stage. In January of 2001, Lisa took the stage at "Goodbar" in Hollywood. She began perfoming all over town, at The Comedy Store and The Laugh Factory and other smaller venues. In May of that year, she was selected to appear as the featured comedian on "The Mandy Moore Show" at MTV’s Summer Beach House in Key West. Lisa continues to perform her freakishly true comedy around Los Angeles. She is a regular "Rebel of Comedy" at The Improv and will be performing May 6 at the Boston Comedy Festival. Some day, Lisa hopes to have her own sitcom where she pushes her own cheesy philosophy that everyone should be happy to be the unique wonderful, weird person that they are. (sorry Lisa is such a dork!)
